Partners Healthcare & The Massachusetts General Hospital
Martha’s Vineyard Hospital is a member of Partners HealthCare and an affiliate of Massachusetts General Hospital.
Partners HealthCare was founded in 1994 by Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital. Partners is an integrated health care system that offers patients a continuum of coordinated high-quality care. The system includes primary care and specialty physicians, community hospitals, the two founding academic medical centers, specialty facilities, community health centers, and other health-related entities. Partners HealthCare is a non-profit organization.
The mission of Martha’s Vineyard Hospital has always been to provide the health care services that can be delivered right here on the Vineyard, and to seamlessly connect our patients with those services which are not available on the Vineyard. Our affiliation with Massachusetts General Hospital is an integral part of attaining that goal.
One of the first joint projects of the two hospitals will be to coordinate the sharing of medical information electronically, so critical patient information can be shared instantly by doctors here and in Boston. The hospitals are working together to integrate Martha’s Vineyard Hospital into the Partners HealthCare electronic medical record system and is expected to be completed in 2010.
